Celebrate Día de los Muertos at Pearl on Wednesday, November 1 and Thursday, November 2! The first annual Día De Los Muertos event will feature a community altar, a community procession, altars created by local artists, traditional contemporary music and theatre performances, children’s crafts, programming and collaborations with traditional food vendors. Customary flowers, installations and papel picado unique to Día de los Muertos will be found throughout the campus including ofrendas, live mariachi music, a formal procession and sugar skull making.

Today focuses on children’s workshops and performances. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m, kids can enjoy calavera face painting by Hippy’s FX, crafts by Southwest School of Art and Magik Theatre and milkshakes from Honeysuckle Tea Time. On stage, literary artist Carmen Tafolla will read and serve as emcee. Mexican musical performers include Los Inocentes and Conjunto Taller. Finally, ‘La Catrina de Mexico’ Bertha Sandoval will speak about the rich Mexican tradition at Hotel Emma library.

All guests are encouraged to bring a photo or memento and participate in the community altars on both days.
